Laois hotel listed in Ireland’s Top 25

There has been another boost for Laois hotel Castle Durrow after it was named in Trip Advisor’s list of Ireland’s Top 25 Hotels.

The Laois hotel is sixth in the list behind only Harvey’s Point in Donegal, Ashford Castle in Mayo, the Merrion Hotel in Dublin, the Killarney Park in Kerry and Hayfield Manor in Cork

Owned by Peter and Shelly Stokes, Castle Durrow was previously listed among Trip Advisor’s Top 10 Castle Hotels in Ireland.

“THANK YOU to our customers for liking us and above all THANK YOU to our staff who make the Castle such a delight,” wrote owner Shelly on their Facebook page. “Peter and I are so thrilled and so proud.”
Castle Durrow was originally built by Capt. William Flower (later to become Viscount Ashbrook) in 1716 as his family home in the Midlands of Ireland. Its pre Palladian design and formal gardens were the height of fashion in their day.
