Robert Sheehan enjoys karaoke and hot water bottle on visit home to Portlaoise

Robert Sheehan chats to LaoisToday reporter David Power in the Dunamaise Arts Centre this afternoon

Celebrity actor Robert Sheehan has spoken to LaoisToday this afternoon in an exclusive interview in Portlaoise.

Sheehan is home for a short break and met LaoisToday reporter David Power in the Dunamaise Arts Centre. He spoke about his current roles, his career to date and how it was great to visit Portlaoise to catch up with his family and friends.

“It’s lovely to be home. The mother always looks after me well – she always has the hot water bottle filled,” he laughed.

Sheehan was out and about in Portlaoise on Thursday night – where he took part in some karaoke in the Market House in the top square – and caught up with old friends, among them Eoghan Fingleton from Ballyfin.

He also met Emma Fogarty, the Laois girl who is a Patient Ambassador for DEBRA Ireland.

Sheehan, who is from the Block Road in Portlaoise, went to Ballyfin College and is currently starring in Fortitude on Sky Atlantic. He previously starred in RTE’s acclaimed drama Love/Hate and presented his famous blue hoodie from that series to the Dunamaise a couple of years back.

The full interview will appear on LaoisToday next week.
