Items worth €3,000 stolen from van in Portlaoise

Gardai are seeking the public's help

Gardai are seeking the public’s assistance after a van was broken in to outside of the Portlaoise Leisure centre last night.

The work van, a yellow Volkswagen Transporter, had items with a value of €3,000 stolen from it at around 6pm.

The items stolen include electrical items, phones, wallets, and work materials such as tools.

If anyone witnessed anything in the car park of the leisure centre at this time, or noticed anyone near the distinctive yellow Volkswagen van, they should call Portlaoise Garda Station on 05786 74100.

Portarlington

In a separate incident in Portarlington on February 20, a woman had her handbag stolen in the carpark outside Aldi at 1pm.

The lady was packing her shopping into the boot of her car when she returned to the shop to get something, and in that time, the bag was taken from the boot.

There was no damage to the local woman’s vehicle but cash and jewellery contained in her bag were taken by the thief.
