Laois has become home for people from many different counties over the years.
And a large number of those would appear to be from Cork and Kerry. Who, locally, doesn’t know of a teacher, prison officer or a guard from one of these counties for example? Many have made a significant contribution to local life.
In March 2000, the Cork community in Laois held a night in the Killeshin Hotel where they welcomed Mark Landers and the Liam MacCarthy Cup ,won by Cork the previous September.
