27 years and counting – Mountmellick Drama Festival gets underway

Now in its 27th year, the Mountmellick Drama Festival gets underway this Friday night – and runs for eight consecutive nights in the town’s Community Arts Centre.

Under the auspices of the Amateur Drama Council of Ireland and with Mountmellick Credit Union as the main sponsor, the festival is also part of RTE’s 2017 All Ireland Drama Festival.

Schedule

First up on the schedule, this Friday, March 3, is an old John B Keane favourite – ‘The Field’. This is produced by the Amphitheatre Company from Clare.

On Saturday it is the turn of the Glenamaddy Players from Galway and their production of ‘The Bog of Cats’ by Marina Carr. The shows continue every night produced by groups from Dublin, Naas, Cork, Nenagh, Galway, Clare and Cork.

Tickets are €10 per show (concessions available for €5) while there are also season tickets available for €50 (concessions available for €25).
