A young Laois handballer was crowned All-Ireland champion on Sunday after a thrilling win over a Cork opponent in the decider.

Molly O’Connor, from Cullohill Handball Club, secured the U-17 Girls All-Ireland 40X20 title in Kingscourt after she got the better of Aoife Hurley.

This was a tense match right from the off, and in the end, it required a tie-breaker to separate the pair.

But O’Connor was ruthless in the tiebreak and won it 11-0 to claim the All-Ireland title.
