Trucks collide after swerving to avoid man lying on motorway

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a hit and run

Two trucks collided on the M7 motorway last night after they swerved to avoid a man lying in the middle of the road.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was lying in the middle of the northbound road of the motorway, near Junction 15, around 9pm.

Oncoming traffic was forced to take measures to avoid him, causing the two trucks to collide.

The man was later removed to hospital by Gardaí.

Gardaí said he is local to the area.

Meanwhile, in separate unrelated incidents, Gardaí are investigating damage caused to a school in Portlaoise.

There were a number of incidents in which windows were smashed at Scoil Bhride National School, Knockmay over the past few days.

It is believed the windows were broken with stones.
