Open Mic event for the Laois Bealtaine Festival

As part of the Laois Bealtaine Festival 2017 the Arts Office, Laois County Council in partnership with the Dunamaise Arts Centre will present an Open Mic Competition on Wednesday May 31 from 3pm-5pm.

With music and spoken word categories it is open to people aged 55 plus.

Performers are required to register for the competition from 2pm on the day of the event at the Dunamaise Arts Centre (upstairs).

The MC will be Seamus O’Brien and music will be provided by local music duet Tandem.

A lovely array of prizes kindly sponsored by local businesses including, O’Loughlins Hotel, Nook & Cranny, Mulhalls Supervalue Portlaoise, Tynans Restaurant at the Storeyard, All Books Ltd, Eason Bookstore and the Dunamaise Arts Centre will be presented to the winners of the competition in both categories.

The event will provide an outlet for poets, authors and performers of an older age to be heard.

All levels from beginner to expert are welcome to share their work in front of a warm and supportive audience.

Guidelines and registration forms are now available from the Arts Office and the Dunamaise Arts Centre.

Completed registration forms will be taken on a first come first served basis from 2pm at the Dunamaise Arts Centre on the day. Light refreshments will be provided. All are welcome and admission is free.
