Laois Food businesses to receive new training

Up to thirty food businesses in Laois will be able to receive specialist training and mentoring to help develop their business this September.

‘Connect 2 Laois for Food’ aims to support and nurture start-up and established businesses in the county and will allow them to have access to a programme of supports to improve their businesses.

Ireland’s leading Food Consultants and Retail Advisors,  James Burke & Associates, are delivering the programme in Laois this year.

An information session for the programme will be held on Wednesday August 9 at 3:30pm in the Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise.

Progress for Laois Food businesses

Speaking at the launch of the programme, Cathaoirleach Padraig Fleming said, “The ‘Connect 2 Laois for Food’ programme responds to the need to progress enterprises in the food sector in the county.”

Chief Executive of Laois County Council John Mulholland said, “While many of the targeted businesses have ideas for future development, there is a clear need to facilitate innovation and product development, new skills development and competitive positioning allowing them to scale up and create further employment opportunities.”

The project is being run Laois County Council, the Local Enterprise Office and Laois Partnership.
