In-foal thoroughbred horse stolen from field near Portlaoise

Gardai are appealing for information after a robbery at Cul na Mona

Gardai are appealing for information after a in-foal thoroughbred mare was stolen from a field outside Portlaoise.

The horse was stolen from Clonkeen on the Mountrath Road outside Portlaoise between last night (Thursday, August 10) and this morning (Friday, August 11).

The horse is a 10-year-old mare and is three to four months in foal. Described as 16’2 Hands, a bay mare, dark brown in colour with specks of white on the nose and white socks.

The horse is described as being well groomed and in top condition.

Gardai are asking anyone with information to contact Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 8674100 or the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.

“Any information received will be treated in the strictest of confidence,” according to a Garda spokesperson.

The appeal is made to anyone who may have been passing the area between those times.
