Heath student Anna O’Connell in national final of Doodle4Google

Talented artist Anna O’Connell from Scoil an Fhraoich Mhoir, the Heath has qualified for the national Final of Doodle4Google – now she needs people to vote for her work.

Anna created a design titled ‘My peaceful space’ where she described a place that she could escape to by taking 3 deep breaths where everything is calm and colourful.

Her picture was very much influenced by her participation in mindfulness and meditation which she practices daily in her school.

Teacher Anita Fennelly is hoping she will receive backing from her local community and beyond for her entry, with voting open for the next two weeks.

“To be in with a chance of winning it is now down to the public to vote and the Heath NS would love if their community and county would get behind them by voting and sharing,” she said.

“We should all be very proud of this young 9-year-old girl whose artistic talents are representing our town and county at a national level, so please show your support by voting as often as you can and sharing as much as possible,” Ms Fenelly said.

Through the competition, one talented artist will see his or her artwork on the Google Ireland homepage, receive a €5,000 college scholarship and a €10,000 technology grant for his or her school as well as a Chromebook for themselves and their teacher.

Each of the 75 finalists will receive an invitation to the prize-giving event in April where the winners will be announced. They will also receive a framed copy of their doodle, a T-shirt personalised with the image of their doodle, and a Google goody bag.

Their doodle appear on our doodles.google.ie website for the public vote.
