After almost five years in business, Ladybelle Boutique in Abbeyleix has moved to a new premises on the main street of the town.

Owner Mary McWey, who is originally from Abbeyleix but lives in Ballyroan with her husband Paul and three teenage children, opened her shop in 2012. She spent over four years on lower Main Street but has now moved to a new unit at the traffic lights, right beside Supervalu.

“I was delighted to be able to start my own business in a town I’m very passionate about,” says Mary, who previously cared for her elderly parents and also worked at different times in AIB and Emo Oil.

She always had a flair for and an interest in fashion and having her own business was always in the back of her mind. With her children – Niamh (now 19), Enda (now 16) and Alan (now 13) – getting older, the opportunity arose to open in her home town.

In recent months she has been delighted to move to a bigger shop – but to carry on her high quality service with a customer base that’s increasing all the time.

“I’d like to thank my loyal customers for their loyalty since we opened. We have customers coming from far and wide as Abbeyleix is so accessible to many parts of the country,” explains Mary. “We wanted a bigger premises and we still wanted to remain in the town.”

Among the brands that Boutique Ladybelle stock are: Paperdolls Dresses; Diva; Ella Boo; Frnch; Robell; Deck and Red and Royal to name but a few. There is also a selection of jewellry and handbags while the casual range moves very fast and there has been a strong reaction to the CRO jeans label as well.

“We get great compliments about our stock that it is different and very affordable,” adds Mary, who places a strong emphasis on the personal service she provides.

One-to-one service

“We are about providing an honest opinion and a one-to-one service. We’re always looking to go over and above in terms of what we can do for our customers. If stock isn’t available in a certain size we will make a big effort to get it.

“We also keep a record book of what events are on like weddings, communions and confirmations – and we will tell someone if we have sold an outfit for that event to avoid clash. We also accept deposits on any item.”

To celebrate their re-location, Ladybelle Boutique are offering 20% off occasion wear and 10% off casual wear this Friday and Saturday to new and existing customers.
