Laois are sending two footballers forward to compete in the John West National Skills Competition which takes place in Abbotstown this morning.

Orla Hennessy will represent Laois in the Ladies Skills Competition which begins at 10am.

The classy forward was a key player for Timahoe Ladies who were crowned Laois Feile champions for the first time ever a few months ago.

Orla and the rest of her team will go on to represent Laois at the Feile competition in Cavan later this month.

Meanwhile, Oisin Hooney will represent Laois in the boys competition.

The St Joseph’s forward has enjoyed a very successful year so far – albeit in a completely different sport.

Just last week he claimed a bronze medal for Knockbeg College in the All-Ireland 800m Minor Boys final in Tullamore.

Hooney will be hoping for similar success today with his competition also set to take place in Abbotstown.
