Portlaoise annual Garden Fete is set for summer fun

Final preparations are underway for the St Peter’s annual Garden Fete this Sunday July 30 at Clegg’s on the Borris Road, Portlaoise.

The event lasts from 2pm to 5pm and will be full of activities such as a Kids Zone for children, bottle stalls, afternoon tea and a Wheel of Fortune.

There will also be a raffle full of amazing prizes such as a holiday in the four-star Ballygarry House, a large Shaws voucher and a meal for two in the Midlands Park Hotel.

The auction on the day will see furniture, musical instruments and a full Sylvanian family set go.

There will also be live music at the crowd’s usual favourite, the afternoon tea.

Last Garden Fete on the Borris Road

Organiser of the Garden Fete, Phyllis Clegg, said this will be the last year Fete takes place on the Borris Road.

“We won’t be able to hold the Fete here after this year as the field we use for car parking will no longer be able to us,” she said.

The Fete is in aid of Laois Arch Club, an organisation who provides recreational events for young people with special needs, and St Peter’s Church.

All proceeds from the raffle with go to PATH.
