A preview of tonight’s Laois minor football championship final

Laois Shopping Centre MFC ‘A’ Final

Tonight sees O’Moore Park host the last ever Minor A Football Championship final.

The age grade will be scrapped at the end of this year with the U-17 championship, which is taking place later this year, becoming the primary competition.

Emo-Courtwood-The Rock are reigning champions but Portarlington are minor league champions this year.

Here, we take a look at how we think it will pan out:

MFC Final – Emo-Courtwood-The Rock v Portarlington

Venue: O’Moore Park
Time: 7.30pm
Referee: David Moore (St Joseph’s)

From the moment the draws were made at the start of the year, this was the final that everyone predicted.

The reining champions against the league champions, who are also the reigning U-17 champions.

Both side have enjoyed relatively comfortable runs to the final – despite being handed potentially tricky quarter final ties.

Emo-Courtwood-The Rock played Ballyroan-Abbey first, which was a repeat of last year’s MFC decider.
