Sacred space: Teac Tom provides counselling and support at its premises in Stradbally

This Sunday is World Suicide Prevention Day and Teac Tom have organised a walk to mark the day.

The event will take place at 2.30pm in Oughaval Woods in Stradbally.

Everyone who participates will receive a balloon to carry along the route to remember loved ones lost to suicide.

Registration for the event in €10 with all funds raised going to Teac Tom.

Anyone looking for further details can contact Caroline Devoy on 086-0610098.

The vital service in Stradbally came about through the personal tragedy of Caroline Devoy and her family, when they lost their sister and daughter, Clare O’Brien to suicide on June 29, 2015.

Caroline said her family was devastated and also found themselves in a terrible place, with no support services available.

Having endured such a tragedy and then being made painfully aware of the lack of bereavement support, Caroline was determined to do something locally.

And so Teac Tom was born.
