New bottle banks erected in Stradbally

Calls for the bottle bank to be re-erected in Stradbally

The community in Stradbally has reacted well to the erecting of new bottle banks in the town.

The previous bottle bank was at the Market House in the town but it was removed during the regeneration works which took place a few years ago.

It was moved to down near the playground but was removed again a short time later.

However, thanks to intense work by Cllr’s Paschal McEvoy and Tom Mulhall, a new site has been located.

The bottle banks have been installed in the car park in SuperValu and were up in time for last weekend’s Electric Picnic.

Speaking at a recent Municipal meeting, where Cllr Tom Mulhall brought the motion forward, Cllr McEvoy asked for a site to be made available as people had to go to Timahoe or Portlaoise to recycle their glass.

But that is not the case anymore and the people of Stradbally can now recycle the glass in their own town once again.
