Portarlington house ‘gutted’ after blaze

Gardai in Portarlington are investigating a fire which caused extensive damage to a house at Woodlands Park in Portartlingon.

Units from Portlaoise Fire Service attended the scence last night.

The house is understood to be unoccupied.

It was extensively damaged and was gutted following the fire.

Gardaí are now following a definite line of enquiry in their investigation.

It is believed that the fire was set within the property shortly before 7 pm, on Saturday evening.

A call was received by emergency services at 18.55 about the fire at a bungalow.

Crews from Portarlington and Mountmellick along with hydraulic platform from Portlaoise attended.

The scene is preserved by gardaí as they continue their investigation.

No-one is believed to have been injured in the incident.
