Laois competitors recognised at National Ploughing awards

Laois ploughmen were to the fore at the National Ploughing awards at the weekend.

The awards were described as ‘a great day for Laois Ploughing’ at the National Ploughing awards in The Bridge House on Sunday.

Karl Davis was presented with NPA Perpetual Cup; NPA Trophy and gold medal for Intermediate Reversible by NPA president James Sutton and NPA chairman Denis Keohane.

Pat Cooney was presented with the John Dowling Cup and silver medal for Junior Conventional from NPA president James Sutton.

David Walsh was presented with a silver medal for Under 21 Conventional – Junior by NPA president James Sutton.

Already the focus has turned toward the 2018 competitions.

At the event on Sunday it was also announced that the National Ploughing Championships will be returning to Screggan, outside Tullamore, for 2018.

This means that the national event will have been held in the Laois/Offaly consituency for six years in-a-row after the very successful event in Ratheniska, previously.
