All the results from Saturday’s local sports action

Basketball, ladies football, soccer and hurling are all on the agenda today on a busy Saturday of local sports action.

We’re tracking all the games and will be updating the results as we get them throughout the day.

The Portlaoise Panthers men’s team have won their second game in succession in the National League Division 1. Following three losses in their opening three games, they got their first win last week at home to Killarney side St Paul’s.

And they followed that up tonight with a good away win over Dublin Lions. They trailed 34-29 at half time but were 48-46 up at the end of the third quarter and went on to win 65-57.

The Portlaoise Panthers ladies basketball team went down to WIT Wildcats on a score line of 79-46, their second loss in a row. They have little time to lick their wounds however as they are back in action again on Sunday.

There was disappointment for the Park-Ratheniska ladies in the Leinster Club intermediate football semi-final as they were beaten by Meath champions Dunboyne while Rosenallis have an U-21 ‘B’ football semi-final against Na Fianna Og (the two Arles teams and Barrowhouse) to look forward to.

The U-21 hurling championship replay between Clough-Ballacolla and Na Fianna went the way of Clough-Ballacolla as they booked their place in the quarter-final.
