Breaking: 34 roads now blocked across Laois

A total of 34 roads are now blocked across Laois, it has been confirmed in the latest Crisis Management Team update.

Dangerous conditions still prevail with people urged to stay indoors.

“Laois County Council, An Garda Siochana and HSE Crisis Management Team wish to strongly advise that all members of the public should remain indoors.

“Under no circumstances should anybody leave their property or travel on the roads,” the team warns.

There are currently 93 reported incidences, with 34 roads blocked in Co. Laois.

Fallen

Fallen trees have been reported multiple locations.

“Fire crews and Garda units have been mobilised to assess the condition of the priority routes in the county.

“Council road crews will be mobilised from first light tomorrow to remove debris and to clear priority routes,” is has been confirmed.

“The Crisis Management Team would like to acknowledge and thank the public for their on-going co-operation,” the statement adds.

It has emerged that customers without electricity could be left without power for a number of days.

Schools have also been closed for a second day across the country, following a directive from the Department of Education & Science.
