Shanahoe Fun Run in aid of Laois Down Syndrome

If you want to burn off any excess over indulgence over the October bank holiday weekend then Shanahoe GAA 6K Fun Run is the event for you.

The event for Laois Down Syndrome is in association with “The Children’s House” Childcare Centre & Montessori School in Abbeyleix and takes place on Monday, October 30 at 11.30 am.

A juvenile run will take place earlier at 11 am.

Registration takes place in Shanahoe Community Hall from 10 am.

A collection will be held on the day for the Laois branch of Down Syndrome Ireland.

Laois Down Syndrome has been in existence for over 20 years and delivers a range of therapies for its members along with activities such as swimming, cycling lessons, Yoga and information evenings.

Services

They operate with a ‘cradle to grave philosophy’ in their provision of services for their members.

The Laois organisation is hoping to secure 4 acres of land to eventually provide a centre of excellence in Laois to provide training and employment for members.

The event is being hosted in association with the Children’s House charity.

The 4 míle Fun Run/Walk will take place around Shanahoe village.

There will be cash prizes for for 1st to third.

The event is buggy friendly as terrain is all on road.

Entries cost €10 for adults, €3 for under-13s, €5 for those aged between 14 and 17 and a family ticket for 2 adults 2 Juvenile – €25.
