The Bank of Ireland Enterprise event which had been schedule to take place in Mountmellick tomorrow has been postponed.

Due to the very serious flooding that has occurred in Mountmellick and the surrounding areas, organisers have decided to call it off.

They say the decision has been made following significant consultation with the community given the very difficult circumstances the town are facing.

All exhibitors have been informed and it is intended that the even will be run again early next year.

Legendary Tyrone football manager Mickey Harte was due to be the star attraction at the Mountmellick Enterprise Town Sports and Community Expo.

The event was to be a celebration of Mountmellick business, community and sporting life with a busy schedule of presentations and performances organised for the day.

It was to take place in the Catholic Institute on the Main Street in Mountmellick and was to be officially opened by Minister Charlie Flanagan alongside Maria Harris, the Community Banking Manager for Mountmellick and Portarlington.
