Mountmellick Athletics Club were joined by a very special guest at held their annual Christmas party at the Balcony Cinema this week.

Just as all the members were getting comfortable in their seats and looking forward to watching the movie “Elf”, they heard the noise of Christmas bells in the distance.

Excitement levels in the room then rose to fever pitch as the sound of the bells became louder & louder, until finally they heard the familiar cry of “Ho, Ho, Ho” – which could only mean that a very special guest had arrived to wish all the club a very happy Christmas.

Santa’s arrival

Santa was kind enough to take the time out of his busy December schedule to visit the club’s Christmas party.

He even made the time to sit down and speak to every athlete individually, young and old, with everyone receiving a selection box from the North Pole.

Santa then had to leave so he could get back home and get on with his many preparations for next week, and all the young athletes settled down to enjoy the film.

There was goodies and drinks on hand for everyone, and the club and its athletes had a great night, to finish up a great year.
