Story behind the photos 2017: Ossory Show

The first time I ever attended the Osorry Show. It couldn’t have been a nicer day for it.

A sunny Sunday afternoon in July, Steven and I travelled to Rathdowney to cover the annual show.

I wasn’t 100% sure what to expect from it, so we said we would go with the flow

The Ossory Show is one of the longest-running agricultural shows in the country, going as it has been since 1898.

And the crowds turned up in large numbers once again.

There was something for everyone: Truck Show; Vintage Car Display; Pedigree cattle and sheep; prizes for the best apple tart, rhubarb tart, buns and cakes; Pony games and horse shoes; a Little Miss and Mr Ossory; a Glamourous Granny; Most Suitably Dressed Ladies and Gents; a Tug of War; and an array of entertainment.

It really was a festival that is perfect for a family day out and we’re looking forward to attending it again in 2018.
