Irish Grain Growers to meet to discuss latest tillage sector plan

The Irish Grain Growers on a recent protest in Dublin

The Irish Grain Growers Group are hosting a meeting to follow up on the recent launch of the Tillage report by the Joint Oireachtas committee on Agriculture chaired by Pat Deering TD.

The Minister for Agriculture recently called for more efficient communication between the players within the tillage sector.

Tillage farmers across the country have called for improved prices for their crops, with the IGGG holding a protest outside the Guinness Brewery in Dublin at the start of December.

The IGGG have invited guest speakers such as TD Pat Deering, who chairs the Joint Oireachtas committee on Agriculture.

Other guest speakers include Michael Hoey, from Country Crest and Beet Ireland, as well as Darragh Cleary who was the Zurich Tillage Farmer of the Year 2016.

The guest speakers will be giving their views on the steps needed to be taken for the tillage sector to become more profitable at farm gate level. The speakers will also give presentations on the topical developments within tillage farming.

The IGGG encourage all farmers and interested parties to attend the meeting. The meeting will take place at The Millrace Hotel, Bunclody, Co. Wexford at 7.45pm on Wednesday 10th of January.
