Local man hopes to set up robotic walking service in the Midlands

Offaly man Gerry McCabe wants to help other people who have suffered spinal cord injuries in the Midlands walk again.

Gerry suffered a spinal injury in 2004 and was told he would never walk again.

Thanks to huge fundraising efforts from the local community, Gerry can now walk with the aid of an Ekso Bionic suit.

The suit from the US allows Gerry to use his legs once more.

He now hopes to help other people in the Midlands to do the same.

“I want to share it to the people of the Midlands if they want to come and try my suit, be assessed and I’d love to see them walking in it.

If they want to buy one, fundraise for one, have one in the county, give them a bit of hope,” Gerry told RTÉ News.
