The car was taken on Wednesday night, January 24, and discovered missing yesterday morning. However, a male was subsequently arrested and will appear in Portlaoise District Court today.

This incident follows on from a separate incident in Camross on Wednesday when Gardai arrested two men.

The local Task Force were out around 12.45pm when they came upon a Blue Audi A4 that was abandoned.

They then arrested two males nearby with a container of diesel which they believe to be stolen.

The men, aged 29 and 27 respectively, are believed to be from the Portlaoise area.

Both men have been charged to Tullamore District Court where they will appear on February 15.

Separately, Gardai are appealing for information after a number of robberies in the last couple of days.

On Saturday evening at 11.15pm last, the Leisure Centre in Portarlington was broken into.

The office was ransacked and money and other items were taken.

A short time later, the GAA clubhouse in Portarlington was also broken into.

A small silver car was spotted in the area at the time and Gardai are appealing for anyone who saw anything to come forward.
