Potential jobs boost from Heatons’ closing down sale

A closing down sale at Heatons at Laois Retail Park in Portlaoise will most likely lead to extra jobs there as they seek to change their current operation.

The huge closing down sale which is on at the moment is being held to allow for a complete shop revamp and could ultimately lead to extra staff being employed there.

“The closing down sale is being held to make way for the store to be refitted,” a company spokesperson said.

“We are selling off the existing stock in the store to make way for the revamp,” they added.

“There will be no reduction of staff, it could lead to extra jobs,” the spokesperson said.

Bargains

In the meantime, shoppers in Portlaoise can pick up bargains before the store closes its doors for an anticipated one to two weeks.

Shoppers can then look forward to a significantly revamped store.

A similar revamp was carried out recently in Tullamore which saw Sports Direct increase dramatically in size.

The shop at Cloncollig not only greatly increased it sports range, but also added a number of fashion lines also.

It is understood that additional jobs were created at the Offaly store.

Heatons was bought by Sports Direct in recent years.
