One of the highlights of the local social calendar is set to return to the Heritage Hotel in Killenard on Friday night for the 12th annual Portarlington and Killenard Gala Ball.

Celebrity solicitor Gerald Kean will again be the special guest at Friday night’s Portarlington and Killenard Gala Ball, an event which has raised over €300,000 for local charities.

Already there is anticipation of who is special guest will be on Friday night.

“All will be revealed on the night,” said co-organiser, Collete Kenny.

Collette is one of a trio of long-serving organisers along with Maria Molloy and Marie Corcoran who have been organising the event for over a decade.

Marie Corcoran previously told LaoisToday: “We have been called the Three Musketeers and everything else as well”.

The charity chosen this year to benefit from fundraising is Portarlington Senior Citizens.

Anticipation is certainly building for the 12th instalment of the ball.

Smart

The event begins at 7.30 pm with smart dress. Colette said the ladies generally put the man to shame when it comes to the fashion stakes.

Music is by Keith McDonald with disco afterwards.

Already over 240 tickets have been sold, with just a handful remaining. Tickets can be purchased from any of the organisers.
