A large quantity of tools have been taken from a building site in Portlaoise and Gardai are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The building site at the St Fintan’s Hospital on the Dublin Road, opposite the prison, was broken into between Tuesday night, March 6, and Wednesday, March 7.

According to Graham Kavanagh, Crime Prevention Officer for the Laois-Offaly Garda division, a large quantity of drills and hand tools were taken from the site.

“We’re appealing for information re movements at that location as (they) would have needed transport.”

No value yet has been placed on what has been stolen.

In a separate incident, a 2009 Nissan Qashqai car was taken from the Ardan Glas housing estate in Portlaoise early this morning.

Gardai are also appealing for information on that.
