There was a real buzz in the Portlaoise Parish centre on Wednesday morning to celebrate World Down Syndrome day.

The Midlands Down Syndrome Centre held a coffee and cake event to raise much needed funds.

Patricia Mulhall, who is a director of the centre, was thrilled with the turnout.

She thanked Kristen Kehoe of Kristan’s Cupcakes for donating some lovely buns and for everyone else who helped.

She said: “It was a brilliant morning and we were overwhelmed with the response we got from people.

“The turnout was amazing and I can only thank everyone who came along.

“Also, I’d like to give a special mention to Monsignor John Byrne, Fr Paddy Byrne, Declan and all the staff at the Portlaoise Parish Centre.

“The morning was a huge success and we were thrilled.”
