A Stradbally housing estate, that was described as being like ‘war zone’ back in October, will soon be taken charge of by Laois County Council.

Cill Beg Manor in Stradbally was originally constructed around a decade ago but has never been properly finished.

However, the developer completed the last house in 2016 and just before Christmas, the driveway was properly laid with tarmacadam.

So, in response to Cllr Paschal McEvoy’s motion asking when the Council would take charge of the site, Senior Planner Angela McEvoy said a few other things needed to be completed.

She said: “Once landscaping works are completed subject to weather conditions and footpath provided through open space at final phase of the development.

“Then we will consider same with a view to taking in charge.”

Cllr McEvoy said: “I am happy to hear that and I’m sure the residents will be too.

“It is not massive work that remains to be done so hopefully the process can be completed quickly.”
