Our Guide to what’s on in Laois this weekend

Another busy weekend ahead, particularly for outdoor events. From fishing competitions, to family fun days, to dog shows. This weekend really kicks off the season of summer with lots of fun things going on.

FRIDAY, APRIL 20

Smash Hits

Smash hits are back and will be playing in Kavanagh’s Bar Portlaoise from 9.30pm. Tickets €25.

SATURDAY, APRIL 21

Slieve Bloom Walks

Pauls Lane walk meeting at Cadamstown Car Park at 6pm. Leader Richard Jack.

Laois GAA Fixtures

There is also a full round of Laois ACFL Division 1A and 1B on Saturday. You can check the fixtures here.

SUNDAY, APRIL 22

Club Fun Day

O’Moores Camogie Club are holding a Club Fun Day this Sunday from 1-4pm in Mountmellick Sports Complex. A free event for all girls in primary school with camogie games, bouncing castle, face painting and lots more.

Ear to the Ground

RTE Ear to the Ground presenter Helen Carroll will do the honours by leading this year’s Woodenbridge Community Alert 7k Blueway Walk on Sunday at 2pm.

Abbeyleix Dog Show

First annual dog show to be held this Sunday at 10am on the Mountrath Road. It will be a family fun pet dog show. Catering, trade stands, face painting, bouncy castles and much more. Admission is €5, kids under 12 go free.

Anglers Fishing Competition

Entries Taking place from 9am Sunday morning, with weigh in at 6pm for the Rathdowney Anglers Cup.
