Here’s our guide to what’s happening around the county for Friday May 11 to Sunday May 13.

FRIDAY MAY 11

‘Annie Jr’ at the Dunamaise
The Holy Family Senior School are performing Annie Jr on the Dunamaise stage. The show takes place at 10.30am and later at 7.30pm.

Portlaoise Ladies table quiz
A table quiz for the Portlaoise U-14’s trip to Birr Adventure Centre will take place in Hume’s Pub, Portlaoise at 9pm. Table of four is €40.

SATURDAY MAY 12

Darkness into Light
The annual Darkness into Light event for Pieta House takes place in Mountmellick and Rathdowney this weekend. To sign up, visit here.

Leinster Senior Football Championship Round 1
The Laois seniors take on Wexford in Wexford Park at 6.30pm.

Leinster Minor Hurling Championship Round 1
Preceeding the footballers, Laois minor hurlers play Wexford in Wexford Park at 4.30pm.

SUNDAY MAY 13

Heritage Diesel Day in Stradbally
Stradbally Woodland Railway heritage diesel day is on the grounds of the Cosby estate from 12 noon from 4pm.
Locomative ‘Rusty’ will be in operation for the 1km distance on the day.

Killenure NS extension opens
The official opening of Killenure NS takes place at 10am. Minister Charlie Flanagan and Father John Lalor PP will be there to cut the ribbon on the day.

Birdwatch Ireland in Garryhinch
Birdwatch Ireland are planning a children’s trip to Garryhinch from 11am to 1pm. To book a place, call Barbara on 087 2073121.

Joe McDonagh Cup Round 2
Laois senior hurlers play in Kerry in Austin Stack Park, Tralee, at 3pm.
