Works planned for derelict courthouse

Money is available for planned works to improve the appearance and security of the Borris-in-Ossory Courthouse.

This statement came after cllr Brendan Phelan asked for the Council to give an update on preservation works at the Courthouse.

“For years, Borris-in-Ossory was promised as the next courthouse in Laois,” said cllr Phelan.

“We need to secure funding and identify uses within the community,” he added.

An eyesore

“The courthouse is an eyesore. Quotes for the courthouse have been requested and hopefully it becomes a central hub for the local community,” said cllr James Kelly.

Cllr John King supported the works being done to courthouse, saying: “It’s good that things are going to happen in Borris-in-Ossory.”
