Hurling reminiscent of years gone by will be revived in Borris-Kilcotton this weekend as their annual Road Hurling Tournament gets underway.

The event is the only tournament of its kind held in Laois and will get underway from Killasmeestia church at 3pm.

Teams of three will work their way along a 5km course over the roads, with competitions for Senior Men, Senior Ladies, U-16 Boys and Girls, as well as a Masters category.

A team of three costs just €30, and there are trophies up for grabs for the winners in each category.

Evening cabaret

To add to the excitement, there will be a cabaret and presentation night in the Green Roads that night, along with a BBQ, and tickets for that are just €5.

There will also be plenty of fun and games for children during the competition in the field opposite the church in Killasmeestia.

For those interested on competing, contact Trevor Moore on 087 7562890. The event is sponsored by Drennan Meats and Holland Hurls.
