BREAKING: Crash in Laois requires air ambulance

    A crash in Laois has resulted in a man being airlifted to hospital from a busy Portlaoise road this Friday afternoon.

    The man was the sole occupant of the car on the stretch of the L2117 bog road at Kyletalesha, Portlaoise near the landfill.

    Laois County Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene after it received a call at 1.30pm.

    One male was removed from the car with very serious injuries and was transferred to hospital by the Aer Corps AC112 helicopter.

    Portlaoise and Mountmellick fire services, gardai and ambulance attended the scene.

    The road remains closed while the Gardai carry out a technical examination of the scene.
