16,000 people walked from Darkness into Light on the event’s seventh trip around Mountmellick, May 12 2018.

Last night the Mountmellick group donated earnings of a whopping €31,724.03 to Pieta house.

They took their Facebook page to say “As always from the bottom of our hearts thank you so very much.”

Mountmellick has now raised over €125,000 for the cause throughout their successful six years.

The event has been increasing in popularity each year,  spreading to Rathdowney last year. 3,000 walkers raised €41,000 across the two Laois towns in 2017.

Funds raised from Darkness Into Light help keep Pieta House’s counselling services free to those in suicidal crisis, people who engage in self-harm, and those bereaved by suicide.

Darkness into Light is Pieta House’s flagship fundraising event and takes place in over 180 venues both at home and abroad.
