One Laois teenager has been named in the Ireland squad hosting the Victory shield competition for the first time.
Portlaoise teenager Colin Conroy was named in the 19-man squad for the international competition.
Ireland are hoping it will be a hat-trick of wins in the competition – Osam’s side lifted the historic trophy in Northern Ireland last year and in Scotland in 2016.
This builds on a remarkable year for the young Portlaoise footballer – as he was also recently named as the U-15 St Kevin’s Boys/Bohemians’ Player of the Year for the 2018 season.
2018 has also seen Conroy capped for the Republic of Ireland at U-15 and U-16 level.
After captaining his country last November, Conroy played again for the U-15s in March against Cyrpus.
Then last month, he made the step up to the U-16 team where he played in games against Bulgaria.
The Victory shield begins on Monday, 12 November with the Republic of Ireland taking on Northern Ireland at Mounthawk Park at 6pm.
On Wednesday, 14 November they face off against Wales in the same venue at 1pm.
It finishes on Friday, 16 November where ROI play Scotland in Tralee Dynamos at 1pm.
Keep up the good work Colin!
