Portlaoise Hockey Club draw in Belfield

Portlaoise UCD 1
Hockey League

Portlaoise Ladies Hockey Club worked hard to come away with a draw against UCD 6th on a damp and dark afternoon in Belfield on Sunday November 11.

UCD put the pressure on Portlaoise from the start and took the lead in the first half.

However, Portlaoise came back strongly and a great score by Susan Fingleton from a short corner brought the sides level in the second half.

Portlaoise defended very well in the latter part of the second half to keep UCD out, with great play by Claire Igoe, Jenny Deegan and Susan Fingleton.

The girls are still unbeaten in their first season in this Division but after two consecutive draws, they will be hoping to get back to winning ways at the weekend.

Portlaoise will play Wicklow in their next league match on 17th November in Wicklow.

Wicklow are currently in first place in the league table, two points ahead of Portlaoise so this could be a season defining game for Portlaoise.
