Laois GAA visit hospital while Bishop drops into Portlaoise prison on Christmas Day

Christmas is a time for visiting and that tradition was kept very much alive this Christmas morning with a number of well-known local people dropping in to two long-established institutions in Portlaoise.

A number of Laois GAA Stars visited the Midlands Regional Hospital in Portlaoise where they dropped into the paedaetric department armed with presents and Selection Boxes.

Accompanied by Laois GAA PRO Pat O’Sullivan they chatted with staff, children and their families.

All were kitted our in their official Laois GAA gear and some even donned Santa hats to add to the occasion.

Among the footballers who visited the hospital were Colm Begley, Brendan Quigley, John O’Loughlin and Gareth Dillon.

Enda Rowland, Ryan Mullaney and Eanna Lyons were included in the hurling contingent.

Meanwhile, down the road in the two Prisons, Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin Denis Nulty dropped into chat with prisoners and staff.

Bishop Nulty was also in Portlaoise on Christmas Eve when he celebrated the 4pm Children’s Mass in the parish church.
