Laois community gearing up for ‘Generation Transformation’

This looks like it will be great craic.

Stradbally, Vicarstown and Timahoe Activity & Wellness Hub has managed to reach 5,332 participants in 2018 through running 32 events such as Beat the Barge Zombie Run, wellness talks, Easter hunts, summer camps, water events, cycling, regularly participating in weekly activities and training courses.

With excellent amenities in the local areas it is great to see them being utilised, but we do see the need for more opportunities to engage people to be more physically active daily.

Plans are in motion for ‘Generation Transformation’ in 2019 which will be launched in line with Operation Transformation Nationwide walk on January 12.

The SVT Community Sports Hub are looking for 6 per team to represent their area – Stradbally, Vicarstown and Timahoe

Terms and conditions are as follows:

Even number of teams per area and each Team Generation must have: 1 Grandparent/Mature Person, 1 Secondary school student and 1 Primary School Pupil

The other 3 members can be a mix in any order – 2 male and 1 female or 2 females 1 male or 3 males 3 female.

This 6 week challenge will begin on January 12 at Ballykilcavan House Stradbally with a 3km & 5km walk at 11am.

Weekly events will be held in the three areas for all generations to improve their fitness and progress to achieve their own set goals
Stradbally Chemco Chemist have come on board to assist in helping each group to monitor their weight and blood pressure.

A halfway point Team building session will be held in Timahoe on Saturday February 2 at 11am.

And the final will be held in Vicarstown on Saturday February 27 at 11am.

Closing date for team entries is Friday January 4 at 5pm.
