Leinster Rugby League Division 2A

Portlaoise RFC kept their slim chances of promotion from Division 2A alive with a fine away win over bottom side New Ross in Wexford this afternoon.

The Laois outfit ran in six trys over the 80 minutes to claim a bonus point and leave themselves in fourth position with two games left to play.

17 points in each half did the trick here as Portlaoise inflicted an 11th straight defeat upon their hosts.

Simon Williams, Paudie Burke and Jack Reddin all crossed in the first half – with Reddin landing one conversion to make it 17-0 at the break.

Mark Sherlock, Armand Smit and Harry Lalor got in on the try scoring in the second half as Portlaoise put recent defeats behind them to power to a 29 point win.

Up next is a home game against second placed Cill Dara and after that Portlaoise will enter the Towns Cup Plate.
