This was arguably the greatest turnout Stradbally has ever seen for its St Patrick’s Day parade.

Hundreds lined Main Street as the Little Town turned green this morning as patrons arrived in their droves to march down the Main Street to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.

This year’s parade, organised as always by Fr Sean Kelly with assistance from Rev Alec Purser, was themed a ‘celebration of living in a small rural community’.

Community groups, clubs and organisations joined with local businesses to bring a real carnival atmosphere on this chilly morning.

Starting on the Rathmore Road, the band from St Colman’s National School led the way with renditions of traditional songs followed by Cosby National School.

The procession saw representations from Stradbally GAA, Stradbally Town AFC and many other groups.

Liz Molloy and Austin Watt Clancy also had their own extra large photo frame and they captured some brilliant photos, some of which are below.

The parade ended as everyone headed for the church for St Patrick’s Day mass before venturing to St Colman’s School for tea, cake and refreshments.
