Rathdowney man flies the flag proudly for Laois at national Mr Personality festival 2019

Colin Dowling is presented with a memento of the weekend from Kilkenny Carlow & District Farm Relief Services

As the 14th annual Mr Personality Festival took place last weekend, a Rathdowney man named Colin Dowling flew the flag high for Laois at the proceedings.

Colin was one of 27 contestants taking part in the festival at the Springhill Court Hotel, Kilkenny.

The primary school teacher took part in the fun-filled festival in the Marble City, which was hosted by Kilkenny Macra na Feirme and was sponsored by Kilkenny/Carlow and District Farm Relief Services.

On Saturday April 12 the contestants completed their private interviews with the judges.

Afterwards they proudly displayed their jerseys while completing Pilates, obstacle course, hurling target and welly throw, soccer penalties and team building exercises and tried to show the judges what they were made of.

Judges for the weekend were Carmel Brennan, Siobhan Woods and John Bergin.

The result was announced at 12 midnight on Saturday night with John Martin Carroll Causway Macra (Kerry) becoming the 14th Mr Personality.

In second place was Conor Ryan from Thurles Macra (North Tipperary) and third was Ciaran O’Donnell from Elphin Macra (Roscommon).

Twenty five year old Colin was presented with a memento of the weekend from Kilkenny Carlow & District Farm Relief Services.
