WATCH: Irish Paralympian Nicole Turner visits first local school as Olympic ambassador

Nicole Turner competed in three finals at the weekend

In March it was revealed that Paralympic athlete and Portarlington teenager Nicole Turner was chosen as the Ambassador for the Olympic of Ireland Sport Federation.

On Friday April 5 she made her first school visit as part of the Olympic Ambassador programme, to local primary school – Presentation Primary School Portarlington.

The Transition Year student also represented Ireland in the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Aged only 14 at the time, she qualified for an amazing five finals in Brazil.

In May 2017, she received a civic reception in Laois County Council for her glowing contribution to paralympic and Laois swimming. 2017 also saw her receive the title of ‘Para Swimmer of the Year.’

Last year, the Portarlington teenager earned herself a silver medal in the women’s 50 metre butterfly in the European Para Swimming Championships in Dublin.
