Large parts of South Laois without power as ESB report major fault

A lot of Laois people in South Laois have had their Sunday dinners interrupted by a major power fault.

The ESB have confirmed that they are dealing with a problem that has left thousands without electricity this afternoon.

The source of the problem is actually in Athy but parts of Laois are on that line.

Areas hit include Stradbally, Ballintubbert, Luggacurren, Ballylinan and Ballyadams.

The power went around 12.30pm and locals have reported that it still has not returned.

According to the ESB, they do not expect power to return until 4.15pm.

This is the second power cut to hit Laois this week as Portlaoise and the surrounding areas were recently left in darkness.
