It was a spectacular day for Shanahoe as, following on from the success of the boys, the girls repeated the trick to claim the Division 4 championship.
In a close encounter, a fast start did the trick for Shanahoe as they built up an early lead that, try as they might, Knock just couldn’t overturn.
Shanahoe started this one really well as two Clodagh Mulhall goals and a Niamh Ryan point eased them into an early advantage.
Siofra Fitzpatrick got Knock underway with two excellent points but Shanahoe remained on top.
Ella Bates struck for their third goal while she and Whitney Ward added further points.
Knock needed a strong finish to the half to give themselves a chance at a comeback and a Niamh Dundon goal was what they got to reduce the arrears to 3-3 to 1-2 at the break.
Clodagh Fleming and Ellen McDonald cut the gap to three points on the resumption of play.
Niamh Ryan responded for Shanahoe with a free but Ellen McDonald’s long range goal for Knock left them behind 3-4 to 2-4 with ten minutes to play.
Ryan once again raised a white flag for Shanahoe and neither side would score again until Ellen McDonald added a late point in injury time for Knock.
But there would be no dramatic late comeback as Shanahoe made the game same with a late Laura Harding point.
