Michael Gleeson
Fermoyle, Attanagh, Laois

(Former employee at Bord na Mona, Coolnamona, Portlaoise). Suddenly, beloved husband of Frances and loving father to James, Daniel, Marie and Ann. Sadly missed by his loving wife, his children, their partners, adoring grandchildren, Grace, Ben, Lucy, Aislinn, Harry, Aoife and Liadh, sisters Theresa and Mary, brothers in law, sisters in law, extended family neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his residence. In accordance with HSE guidlines a private Funeral Mass for family and close friends (max 50 people) will take place in the Church of Assumption Ballyouskill on Saturday at 11.00am followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.Those wishing to offer their condolences may do so below. The family would like to thank everybody for their cooperation, understanding and support at this difficult time.

Jim McCormack
Dublin Rd, Portlaoise, Laois

McCormack, Fish Hoek, South Africa and formerly Dublin Rd., Portlaoise. 28th June 2021 Suddenly in S.Africa. Predeceased by his daughter Aisling. Dearly loved husband to Esther and loving father to Diarmuid (Montreal) and Enda (Galway). Cherished grandchildren Callie, Jack, Kian and Emma, brothers Tony and Jerry, son in law Duane, daughters in law Chrissie Rikers. Endas partner, Anita, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends.

He will be sadly missed by all his former colleagues in the Irish Prison Service. The Portlaoise and Laois GAA circles. And also the community and voluntary groups in Portlaoise Town. He was a true native of the Town.

Jim’s funeral will take place in South Africa on Saturday morning at 8.55 am Irish Time at St Johns Catholic Church, Fish Hoek. Cremation will follow afterwards.

Graham Patchett
Glenbower, Mountrath, Laois

Graham Patchett, Glenbower, Mountrath, Co.Laois, formerly Lincoln, England. Died 29th June 2021, (peacefully) at his residence. Sadly missed by his family.

Private Cremation will take place on Thursday, 1st July 2021.

Lucy Byrne (née Bergin)
30 Hillview Drive, Rathnapish, Carlow / Portlaoise, Laois

Lucy Byrne, 30 Hillview Drive, Rathnapish Carlow and originally of Meelick, Portlaoise, June 29th 2021 (peacefully) at the District. Hospital. Dearly loved and adored wife of Michael. Sadly missed by her heartbroken husband, sisters Mary and Patricia, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, sister-in-law, relatives and friends.

Owing to Government guidelines a private Funeral Mass for family (max 50) will be celebrated on Friday, (July 2nd), at 2pm in the Church of the Holy Family, Askea, Carlow followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Family flowers only, please, donations in lieu to the Friends of the District Hospital or the Carlow County Hospice fund.

Michael Finnerty, Charleville House, Borris-in-Ossary, Co. Laois and formerly Fivealley, Birr, Co. Offaly, June 27th, 2021. Deeply regretted by his sisters; Mary Cantillon (Limerick), Christina Kennedy (Belmont), Anne Hopman (Wexford) and Carmel Kennedy (Ballyboy, Kilcormac), brothers-in-law,nephew, nieces, his Aunt;Teresa Dalton (Lusmagh), extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Removal from Boyd’s Funeral Home, Birr on Thursday morning at 11.15am to arrive at St.Finnian’s Church, Longford, Kinnitty, for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in the adjoining Churchyard. Michael’s Funeral will take place in accordance with Government guidelines and his family thank you for your understanding at this sad and difficult time.
